IMA says, 730 doctors died during 2nd wave of COVID

On Wednesday, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) said that almost 730 doctors had died during the 2nd wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, adding that the maximum number of fatalities are reported in Bihar.

Bihar had reported almost 115 doctor deaths, which is followed by Delhi who recorded 109 fatalities, and Uttar Pradesh with 79 fatalities. In southern states of India, Andhra Pradesh had reported 38 fatalities, Telangana 37 fatalities, Karnataka 9 fatalities, Kerala 24 fatalities, and Odisha 31 fatalities. 23 doctors died in Maharashtra.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India reported 62,224 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours and the daily positivity rate has dropped to 3.22 per cent. The daily positivity rate is been below 5 per cent for the 9 consecutive days.

The number of active coronavirus cases has dropped to 8,65,432. They have reduced to less than 9 lakhs for the 1st time in 70 days. As per the Health Ministry, the national COVID-19 recovery rate has improved to almost 95.80 per cent. The countrys total count has reached to 2,96,33,105 with the new cases. The COVID-19 death toll has reached to 3,79,573 with 2,542 new fatalities in the last 24 hours.

The recoveries out number the daily new cases for the 34th successive day. India has witnessed 1,07,628 recoveries in the past 24 hours, taking the total recovery count to 2,83,88,100.
