India reported the sharpest weekly decline in fatalities related to COVID-19, with deaths declining 45% from the previous seven days. 

Deaths registered during the week of June 14-20 declined to below 14,000, at an average of less than 2,000 a day, for the first time in the past nine weeks. Overall, 13,886 deaths were registered between June 14 and June 20, compared to 25,058 deaths recorded in the previous week. 

On Sunday, the country recorded 53,237 new infections, which is the lowest daily number since March 30. With 1,008 fatalities in a span of 24 hours, the country recorded the least deaths since April 12… (ET Healthworld – TNN, June 21, 2021)
