Updated Guidance for Return to Sports and Physical Activities

In an updated guidance on returning to sports and physical activity, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) encourages all eligible people to receive the COVID-19 vaccine as soon as one is available.

AAP suggests that although outdoor activities pose a lower-risk for spreading COVID-19 and many people have been vaccinated against the disease, people should still wear masks in certain settings. Susannah Briskin, MD, lead author of the guidance, said that for indoor sporting events with audience, in locker rooms as well as training room, and during shared car rides or school transportation, people must continue wearing masks. For outdoor sports activities, those who are not fully vaccinated should wear masks on the sidelines and at the time of group training and competition when they are within a 3 feet distance from others for continued duration… (Medscape)
