23% of COVID-19 Patients Have Long-Haul Symptoms: Study

According to a study by the nonprofit FAIR Health, conducted among nearly 2 million COVID-19 patients, 23.2% of the patients sought treatment for COVID-related symptoms one month or more after diagnosis.

The study assessed insurance records of 1.9 million patients from February 2020 through February 2021 and noted that one month after being diagnosed, around 50% of hospitalized patients had symptoms, compared to 27.5% of patients who reported symptoms and were not hospitalized, and 19% of patients who were asymptomatic. The leading post-COVID symptoms included pain, breathing difficulties, hyperlipidemia, fatigue, malaise, and hypertension.
