The COVID-19 vaccine developed by Zydus Cadila for children aged 12 years and above could be available in the country by August. The trials are likely to be completed by July-end, stated Dr N K Arora, Chairman, National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (NTAGI).

Dr Arora said that the trial will be almost complete by the end of July, and in the month of August, it may be possible to vaccinate those aged 12-18 years. Discussing about an ICMR study which states that the third wave would possibly emerge late, he said that the Government of India targets to administer 1 crore doses per day in order to be able to immunize everyone in the country within a span of six to eight months. He said that the ICMR study has suggested that the third wave is likely to come late.
