People with capillary leak syndrome not to receive AstraZeneca COVID vaccine: Health Canada

Health Canada has recommended that individuals who have a history of capillary leak syndrome should not be given the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

The agency is going to update the label for the AstraZeneca and COVISHIELD vaccines to include capillary leak syndrome as a potential side effect. Health Canada as well as the Public Health Agency of Canada have been looking into this condition since it was brought to light as a potential safety concern by the European Medicines Agency in April. As of June 11, one case of capillary leak syndrome after administration of AstraZeneca vaccine has been reported in Canada, stated Health Canada… (Reuters, June 30, 2021)
