According to researchers from Israel, assessment of antibody titers developed after the administration of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine pointed to a correlation between low response and advanced liver fibrosis.

Findings presented at the European Association for the Study of the Liver virtual meeting stated that among a cohort of 140 patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, more advanced fibrosis was tied to lesser response among patients to the vaccine. It was noted that in cirrhosis patients, only 8% demonstrated an excellent response to the vaccine as measured by the serum SARS-CoV-2 spike immunoglobulin levels (≥200 AU/mL). About 23% exhibited only a good response (<200 AU/mL).

In a cohort of 90 liver transplant patients, who had been given both doses of the vaccine and their serum SARS-CoV-2 spike immunoglobulins were assessed at least 7 days later, nearly 58.9% had satisfactory or excellent titers (≥19 AU/mL), while 41.1% had low titers… (Medpage Today)
