The protection provided by the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines against the SARS-CoV-2 virus may last for months, and may be even longer for those who had contracted COVID-19 infection and were later vaccinated, suggests a new study published in the journal Nature. 

The study noted that either of the vaccines provided robust protection for at least 12 weeks after a second dose and low-level protection for at least one year. According to the study investigators, the results indicate that the vaccines provide robust and prolonged protection against the virus.
