India’s Covaxin can effectively neutralize both Alpha and Delta variants of coronavirus, stated the US National Institute of Health (NIH).

Two studies examined the blood serum obtained from individuals who had received Covaxin. The results revealed that the vaccine generated antibodies which could effectively neutralize the B.1.1.7 (Alpha) and B.1.617 (Delta) variants of coronavirus, stated the top US health research institute, NIH.

An NIH press release stated that the vaccine is safe and well-tolerated, as per the published results from a phase 2 trial. Unpublished interim findings from the phase 3 trial suggest that Covaxin has a 78% efficacy against symptomatic disease and 100% efficacy against severe COVID-19 illness, including hospital admission.
