A group of men assaulted two junior doctors from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi following a heated argument at a local eatery.

The police said that a group of doctors had gone to a local eatery Verma Paranthe Walla in South Delhi’s Gautam Nagar after their working hours. They got into a fight with the owner Bhagat Singh Verma and his son Abhishek.

The owner of the eatery then got 15 to 20 men with lathis and beat the doctors. But, the police found a different story that the doctors had consumed alcohol at the eatery and got into some argument with the owner. The two doctors and the owner then assaulted each other.

Atul Kumar Thakur, DCP (South) said that a few doctors from Safdarjung Hospital also joined the AIIMS doctors for the meal. Both the parties sustained minor injuries. The statements of both parties are recorded and legal action will be taken soon. No FIR is filed yet.
