Philippines' FDA allows 42 days' interval between Sputnik V doses

The Philippines is set to allow a gap of 42 days between the two doses of Sputnik V vaccine against COVID-19, said the chief of its Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The permitted gap is still below the 90-day gap recommended by the vaccine manufacturer.

FDA head Rolando Enrique Domingo said that the request from the Gamaleya Institute to increase the interval between two vaccine doses to 90 days from the previous 21 days will have to be re-assessed. He added that the vaccine experts have recommended a maximum interval of 42 days between two doses of the vaccine. He further mentioned that if it is given within 42 days, the results will be very good. The country has granted emergency use authorization (EUA) to eight COVID-19 vaccines thus far… (Reuters, July 7, 2021)
