Delta has become dominant COVID-19 variant in US

The highly transmissible Delta variant has become the dominant strain of coronavirus in the U.S., and currently accounts for over 51% of COVID-19 cases in the country, suggested latest CDC data.

The variant constitutes over 80% of new cases in some Midwestern states, including Iowa, Kansas and Missouri and accounts for 74% of cases in Western states, including Colorado and Utah. The variant makes up around 59% of the COVID-19 cases in Southern states of Louisiana and Texas.

Communities with low vaccination rates are facing the wrath of the variant. Public health experts have urged people who have not been vaccinated yet to get their jabs in order to protect themselves and their communities form future spikes… (Medscape)
