MCI Code of Ethics have quantified terms for violation of terms of doctor-pharma relationship

If a doctor accepts free medicines for personal use from a local chemist, whose cost is less than Rs 1000/-, it is not violation of Section 6.8.1(a) of MCI Code of ethics.

As per Section 6.8.1 (a) of the Indian Medical Council (Professional Conduct, Etiquette and Ethics) (Amendment) Regulations, 2015 notified on 1.2.2016 in the Gazette of India, the value of gift that violates the provisions of this section is more than Rs. 1,000/-.
