With the Third Wave Just Around the Corner, IMA Says Tourism, Pilgrimage Can Wait

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has appealed to the Center and the State governments to not be complacent amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and has cautioned that a third wave was imminent. 

The doctors’ body expressed concern over the complacency that has been shown by the authorities and the public alike in various parts of the country. "Tourist bonanza, pilgrimage travel, religious fervour are all needed but can wait for a few more months. Opening up these rituals and enabling people without vaccination to go scot-free in these mass gatherings are potential super spreaders for the Covid third wave," said an IMA press release. From what has been experienced over the past year-and-a-half, the impact of the imminent third wave can be blunted only by making sure that everyone gets vaccinated and by following COVID-appropriate behavior, states IMA… (NDTV, July 12, 2021)
