A large-scale study suggests that individuals who are vaccinated against influenza may have a partial protection against severe effects of COVID-19, and appear to be less likely to require emergency care.

An evaluation of around 75,000 COVID-19 patients worldwide indicated that the annual flu vaccine could diminish the risk of stroke, sepsis and deep vein thrombosis (DVT) among patients with COVID-19. COVID-19 patients who had received a flu shot also had lesser odds of visiting the emergency department and be admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU).
