India's first COVID patient tests positive again

A woman from Kerala who was studying in Wuhan, China and contracted the COVID-19 infection in the early days of the pandemic last year has tested positive again, reported a health official. However, she has no symptoms.

She had been officially recognized as the country’s first COVID-19 infected patient. She took an RT-PCR test in order to travel to Delhi. Her rapid antigen test was negative, and none of her family members seem to be infected. The 22-year-old Thrissur woman intends to resume her studies at a medical college in Wuhan. She has received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Thrissur district medical officer KJ Reena said that the woman is under quarantine at her home. She added that reinfection is not new, and some of the healthcare workers have been infected twice… (HT, July 14, 2021)
