Melbourne enters lockdown with 18 COVID-19 cases

Victoria in Australia has entered a snap lockdown after two more local cases of the coronavirus emerged.

The latest outbreak took the total number of cases there to 18. This is the fifth time that Victoria has entered into a lockdown since the pandemic began, and will last until Tuesday. Melbourne had been able to avoid new cases in spite of an outbreak in neighboring New South Wales. However, earlier this week, some furniture movers from Sydney travelled to Melbourne, resulting in a spread in cases.

Residents will be required to stay at home but will be allowed to move out for food shopping, essential work, exercise and getting vaccinations. The step means that nearly 40% of Australia′s population is going to be under a stay-at-home order… (BBC, July 15, 2021)
