Health officials in the United States have said that cases of COVID-19 due to the Delta variant of the coronavirus continue to rise and the variant now accounts for about 83% of the COVID-19 cases in the country.

During the week of July 3, the variant was responsible for about 50% of the genetically sequenced COVID-19 cases.
