UK COVID cases decline for seventh consecutive day

The daily COVID-19 cases registered in the UK have declined for the seventh straight day to 23,511. 

Prime Minister Boris Johnson had called on people to exercise caution and not jump to premature conclusions about the declining number of cases. Public Health England said that the pandemic was not over and urged people to follow precautions. PHE’s medical director, Dr Yvonne Doyle, said that all individuals should get both the vaccine doses, meet outside, and must isolate if told to by NHS Test and Trace and limit contacts.

Overall, 131 deaths were reported within 28 days of a positive test, which is the highest figure since March. Doyle stated that the number of deaths was partly due to the high number of cases recorded over the recent weeks, adding that the latest figures indicated that they are still in the third wave… (BBC, July 28, 2021)
