India registered more than 40,000 new COVID-19 cases, while the active caseload in the country dropped below 4,00,000, stated Union health ministry data.

The country reported 43,654 fresh COVID-19 infections, 47% higher than the previous day, when fresh cases declined to less than 30,000 for the first time in around four months. The total case tally in the country stood at 3,14,84,605 while the number of deaths rose to 4,22,022 as 640 deaths were added in a span of 24 hours, revealed the data updated at 8 am on Wednesday.

The number of active cases in the country stood at 3,99,436 and constitutes 1.27% of the total cases. The nationwide recovery rate improved to 97.39%. The daily positivity rose to 2.51% and the weekly positivity rate stood at 2.36%... (NDTV, July 28, 2021)
