An internal presentation by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has stated that the Delta variant of the coronavirus is much more contagious, has a greater likelihood of evading protection provided by the COVID-19 vaccines, and may even cause more severe disease compared to other known versions of the virus, reported the New York Times.
