A COVID-19 outbreak which began in Nanjing in China has now spread to five provinces and Beijing, and is the most extensive outbreak since Wuhan, said Chinese state media.

Around 200 individuals have been infected since the virus was first identified at the city′s airport on 20th July. All flights from Nanjing airport have been suspended until 11^th August. City-wide testing has also been started. All 9.3 million residents of the city, including visitors, will be tested. Officials attributed the cases to the highly contagious Delta variant, and added that the infection had spread further because of the busy airport. A health official in Nanjing, Ding Jie, stated that the cases were tied to cleaners who worked on a flight from Russia that arrived on 10^th July… (BBC, July 30, 2021)
