In the second incident in a week’s time, a patient’s family member attacked a PG doctor at Niloufer Hospital in Hyderabad on Saturday. The doctor works with the hospital’s Pediatric Department and is in his final year.

He was attacked by the accused after he honked at him in the hospital’s parking lot. The doctor sustained injuries on his nose and face.

A complaint filed with Nampally police station by the hospital Superintendent said that Mohammed Shaffudin had blocked the exit of the parking area and refused to move even after the doctor honked at him. The doctor was moving out from the parking area in his car after duty. The accused had blocked the exit and when the doctor honked at him, the accused started abusing the doctor.

He then went over to the doctor’s car and forcefully opened its door. He hit the doctor on his face and tore his shirt. A female attendee of the patient used abusive language against the doctor.

Last week, a doctor was assaulted by the family members of a patient at Hyderabad’s Chest Hospital. Junior doctors across the state have been asking for deployment of Special Protection Forces at hospitals to prevent such attacks.
