Around 13 states in India have registered a rise in COVID-19 cases in the last week; however, absolute numbers continued to be low at most places.

The hill states in the north had the highest increase in new cases during the week from July 26-August 1 compared to the previous week. Himachal Pradesh saw a 64% rise, which was the highest in the country. Uttarakhand registered a 61% surge, though the number of cases was quite low at 437 during last week, compared to 272 in the previous week. Delhi witnessed a 15% rise in cases while Haryana registered a slight increase of 2%. Kerala reported a 27% surge in cases while Karnataka logged a 17% rise from the previous week.
