The COVID-19 vaccine from Moderna is 93% effective against symptomatic disease through six months following the second dose, said the company. 

Moderna intends to complete its application for full approval from the US Food and Drug Administration this month. The efficacy data has been obtained from a final analysis of the vaccine′s Phase 3 trial, which recruited thousands of participants who had been administered both doses last year. The data of 93% efficacy comes from trial participants who had been fully vaccinated by November 25 and evaluated for the next six months, prior to the dominance of the highly transmissible Delta variant.
