COVID-19 seroprevalence more among family members in Ahmedabad

Around 29% of the family members of COVID-19 patients appear to have seroprevalence in Ahmedabad, according to an analysis. The corresponding figure in the general population was found to be 26%.

The analysis is based on the data of a sero survey conducted by the AMC in October, 2020, and has been published in the Journal of Health Science & Medical Research. The sero survey included 17,000 individuals, while the analysis of its impact on immediate contacts had more than 1,700 samples. The samples processed by hospitals run by the AMC suggested that for other contacts, seroprevalence was 24.4%. Additionally, females were noted to have slightly higher seropositivity among family and other contacts. The figures were 29% and 26.8% compared to 28.6% and 22.4%, respectively, among males… (ET Healthworld – TNN, August 6, 2021)
