COVID Vaccines May Not Stop Spread of Delta Variant, Cautions UK

Early signs indicate that individuals who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 may transmit the Delta variant of the coronavirus as readily as those who have not been vaccinated, suggest scientists at Public Health England (PHE).

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had earlier raised concerns saying that vaccinated individuals infected with Delta variant could easily transmit it. 

The highly transmissible Delta variant is dominating worldwide. While vaccines have been shown to protect against severe disease and death from Delta variant, data is lacking on whether vaccinated people can still transmit it. PHE said that early findings suggest that the levels of virus in people who become infected with Delta variant and have been vaccinated, may be similar to the levels identified in people who have not been vaccinated… (NDTV – Reuters, August 6, 2021)
