Neutralizing antibodies remain high for up to 13 months after COVID infection, says study

Neutralizing antibodies against the spike protein of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) continued to be relatively high for up to 13 months following infection, with only modest reduction in neutralizing titres, suggested a new study.

There were higher rates of positivity over time among patients with more severe disease, thus pointing to a more robust antibody response, reported researchers in the Journal of General Internal Medicine. Around 90% of the study participants had positive antibody tests 6 months following COVID infection, while 83% had positive antibody tests 13 months after the infection.
