Four Districts in Georgia Suspend In-Person Classes Because of COVID-19

Four Georgia public school districts have temporarily halted in-person classes within days of starting school, stating that a high number of COVID cases among students and staff makes it unsafe to continue in-person education.

Other districts have closed individual schools or have put hundreds of students in quarantine following exposure to individuals infected with COVID-19. The 1100-student Macon County district has become the fourth district to stop in-person classes, after Taliaferro, Glascock, and Talbot counties took the decision. Together, these four districts constitute 1% of Georgia′s 1.7 million student population. Talbot County Superintendent Jack Catrett said that the difference in this outbreak compared to the outbreak during the last school year seems to be that this one appears to be more focused on children than adults… (Medscape - AP)
