Daily COVID-19 cases in India continue to show a marginal reduction and stay near the 40,000 mark, as new cases continue to be above 20,000 for the third straight day in Kerala. Maharashtra recorded over 6,000 cases for the first time in five days. 

The country has recorded a steady, but sluggish, decline in daily cases in August thus far, following a surge in the last week of July. The seven-day rolling average of daily COVID-19 cases in India had increased to 40,832 on August 1. It was estimated as 37,719 on August 11, which is the lowest figure since July 25. The country reported 41,649 fresh cases on Wednesday, while the figure on Thursday was 39,248, as updates from Manipur, Tripura and Jharkhand were pending… (ET Healthworld – TNN, August 13, 2021)
