5 Deaths Due to Delta Plus Variant in Maharashtra, 66 Cases Thus Far

Five deaths, including one from Mumbai, have been reported in Maharashtra due to the Delta Plus variant of COVID-19 and around 66 individuals have been detected to have infection with the variant in the state so far.

Some of these individuals have received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, stated the state health department. Seven of these patients are below the age of 18 years. A 63-year-old woman from Mumbai, who was fully vaccinated, died due to the infection in the last week of July. This was the first death due to the Delta Plus variant reported in Mumbai.

Among the five deaths associated with the Delta Plus variant in the state, two patients were from Ratnagiri district and one each from Raigad, Beed and Mumbai… (NDTV – PTI, August 14, 2021)
