Bell's Palsy After COVID-19 Vaccines Very Rare

A study conducted in Hong Kong revealed that there was no significant increased risk for Bell′s palsy following the administration of Pfizer-BioNTech mRNA vaccine; however, the risk increased for individuals who were administered the CoronaVac (Sinovac Biotech) vaccine.

In comparison with the background population, the age-standardized difference for the incidence of Bell′s palsy was 41.5 per 100,000 person-years for CoronaVac vaccine, while it was 17.0 per 100,000 person-years for Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, noted researchers in Lancet Infectious Diseases. The researchers stated that for every 100,000 individuals given the CoronaVac shot, an additional 4.8 people may develop Bell′s palsy, and for every 100,000 people receiving the Pfizer-BioNTech jab, an additional 2 individuals may develop it… (Medpage Today)
