COVID hospitalizations in children and adults below 50 at their highest: CDC data

The rate of COVID-19 hospitalizations has been rising across the United States, and the numbers among children and adults below 50 years of age are at their highest levels thus far, suggest data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Every age group below 50 has crossed its previous record of hospitalization rate, recorded in the first half of January. The biggest surge has been noted in adults 30 to 39 years of age and children below 18. The rates in both the groups were over 30% higher than their previous peak, revealed the CDC data.

Dr. Jim Fortenberry, chief medical officer at Children′s Healthcare of Atlanta, stated that during this Delta variant outbreak, there has been a significantly greater impact on children and teens… (CNN, August 20, 2021)
