Patients aged 12 years and above with multiple sclerosis (MS) who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with either the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccine, may be eligible for an additional vaccine dose, stated the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

New guidance, released by the society, is based on data obtained from studies and expert consensus opinion. People who may be benefitted from an additional dose of a COVID-19 vaccine include patients with MS who are taking sphingosine 1-phosphate receptor modulators, anti-CD20 monoclonal antibodies, or alemtuzumab (Lemtrada), stated the society. These disease modifying therapies (DMTs) exert a more robust effect on the immune system compared to other treatments.

The guidance was published on the organization′s website… (Medscape)
