Johnson & Johnson Applies for Permission to Conduct Vaccine Trials on 12-17-Year-Olds in India

Johnson & Johnson has sought approval to conduct COVID-19 vaccine trials in India on 12-17-year-old children.

The company said in a statement that it had submitted the application on Tuesday. It further stated that it was necessary to make sure that the entire population, including children, gets vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as possible. The statement also read that in order to attain herd immunity, it is essential that the COVID-19 vaccine clinical trials continue to be done in this population.

The company has already received EUA for its one-dose vaccine, which will be supplied through Biological E. Limited. Studies have suggested that the vaccine has an efficacy of 66% in preventing moderate to severe illness due to COVID-19 and an 85% efficacy against severe disease… (NDTV, August 20, 2021)
