India's cumulative vaccination coverage surpasses 58 crore mark

The cumulative COVID-19 vaccination coverage in India has surpassed the milestone of 58 crore doses, stated the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday.

Overall, 52,23,612 vaccine doses were administered in a span of 24 hours, taking the country’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage over the cumulative figure of 58.14 crore (58,14,89,377) across 64,39,411 sessions.

The country registered 30,948 fresh COVID-19 cases and 403 deaths over the last 24 hours. The active COVID-19 caseload in the country now stands at 3,53,398, constituting 1.09% of the total cases. The positivity rate in the country currently stands at 1.95%.

Around 38,487 individuals recovered from the infection in the past 24 hours, with the recovery rate improving to 97.57%, the highest since March last year. The country’s cumulative case count stood at 3,24,24,234 while the total recoveries are 3,16,36,469. Overall, 4,34,367 fatalities have been reported thus far.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has stated that the number of samples tested till August 21 was 50,62,56,239, which includes 15,85,681 samples tested yesterday.
