No New Local COVID-19 Cases in China for First Time since July

China recorded no new locally transmitted cases of COVID-19 for the first time since July, reported the country’s health authority on Monday. 

The latest COVID-19 outbreak in the country was largely driven by infections identified among some airport workers in Nanjing city on July 20. Since then, over 1,200 people were confirmed to be infected with the viral disease. Due to the outbreak, authorities imposed strict measures, such as mass testing for millions of people. No deaths have been reported in the current outbreak, which has primarily affected the cities of Nanjing and Yangzhou in Jiangsu province. The National Health Commission reported that there were 21 new confirmed cases on August 22, compared to 32 cases on the previous day… (NDTV – Reuters, August 23, 2021)
