Israel says COVID vaccine booster significantly reduces infection risk

The Health Ministry of Israel has published findings stating that a third dose of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine led to a significant improvement in protection from infection and serious illness among individuals 60 years of age and older in the country, compared to people who had received two doses.

The findings were presented at a meeting of a panel of vaccination experts; however, the complete details of the study have not been released yet. A breakdown of data from the country’s Gertner Institute and KI Institute suggests that among individuals aged 60 years and above, the protection provided against infection from 10 days following a booster dose appears to be four-fold higher than after two vaccine doses… (Reuters, August 23, 2021)
