7 children die of dengue in Mathura, report officials

MATHURA: Seven children, including an infant aged 7 months, have died due to dengue in Koh village in Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh, over the last week, reported officials.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Rachana Gupta confirmed the death of seven kids. The children who died of dengue till Tuesday morning included Tinku (9), Ruchi (14), Honey (4), Avnish (10), Rakha (3), Ramia (3) and 7-month-old Devi, revealed village head Harendra.

Doctors have set up a camp in the village to provide medical assistance to patients, stated District Magistrate Navneet Singh Chahal. The Additional DM and SDM have been sent to the village to make sure that patients receive timely medical assistance.

Three samples have validated dengue fever in the patients, stated the officials. They said that children suffering from fever are being sent to S.N. Medical College, Agra for better treatment.

The CMO said that while door-to-door samples are being collected for COVID-19, malaria and dengue, the doctors camping in the village are providing medicines to people suffering from fever.

In addition to children, over 40 adults have been found to be suffering from fever in the village.

The CMO said that spraying and fogging has been carried out in the area and the team of doctors is also being sent to the adjacent Pipraut village after a report of over 30 people suffering from fever.
