India Records Highest Daily Increase in COVID-19 Cases in Around 2 Months

Indias daily COVID-19 case numbers surged by more than 4% as 46,759 new infections were recorded on Saturday. This is the highest figure in around two months, as cases spiked in Kerala. 

Overall, 509 deaths were reported during 24 hours, according to the government. Kerala registered 32,801 fresh cases in a day taking the total number of COVID-19 infections in the state to 38,14,305. The state has been recording more than 30,000 cases for three straight days. The positivity rate in the state currently stands at 19.22%, up from 18.03% on August 26.

Maharashtra registered 4,654 new infections and 170 deaths over a period of 24 hours. The state’s recovery rate stood at 97.02%, while the fatality rate is 2.12%... (NDTV, August 28, 2021)
