A prospective single-center study has shown that most highly allergic adults could safely receive two doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.

Among 429 highly allergic individuals who got the first dose of the vaccine, there were mild allergic reactions in 1.4%, while 0.7% developed anaphylaxis, reported researchers. Among 218 of the highly allergic patients who received the second vaccine dose, minor allergic reactions were reported in 1.8%, while none of them experienced anaphylaxis. The data from the study is reassuring that most highly allergic individuals will not develop allergic reactions to the mRNA vaccines against COVID-19.
