Long COVID Affects about 1 in 7 Children Months following Infection

A UK study has shown that about 1 in 7 children may have symptoms tied to COVID-19 months after testing positive for the virus.

The study was conducted by University College London and Public Health England. Around 3,065 children, 11- to 17-years of age, in England were surveyed who had a positive PCR test from January through March. The study also included a control group of 3,739 children in the same age group who tested negative during the same period. Researchers noted that 11- to 17-year-olds who tested positive for the virus had double the odds of reporting three or more symptoms 15 weeks later, compared to those who had tested negative. Among the children who had tested positive, 14% had three or more symptoms, including unusual tiredness or headaches after 15 weeks, compared to 7% having symptoms by that time in the control group… (NDTV – Reuters, September 1, 2021)
