No Added Short-Term Risk of MS Relapse Following COVID-19 Vaccination

According to a preliminary analysis conducted in Italy, there was no increase in the short-term risk of multiple sclerosis (MS) relapse following COVID-19 vaccination.

The analysis, published in the Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Psychiatry, noted that among 324 patients with MS who were administered the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, there were six clinical relapses in the 2 months prior to vaccination (1.9%) and seven relapses in the 2 months following vaccination (2.2%). So, it was reported that the incidence of relapses 2 months prior to and following vaccine administration was not statistically different.
