Israel to present booster dose data to FDA

Israel is set to present data from the COVID-19 vaccine booster dose rollout to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) this month. 

Sharon Alroy-Preis, head of public health at Israel′s Health Ministry, stated that the U.S. FDA has asked the ministry to brief its advisors during a meeting scheduled on September 17. The session will consider a booster dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, and may discuss others too. Israel had started offering the Pfizer COVID-19 booster shot to individuals as young as 12 years of age a week ago, as part of a campaign that was started in July among senior citizens. Israel’s health officials have stated that the vaccination drive slowed a rise in severe illness due to the highly transmissible Delta variant… (Reuters, September 6, 2021)
