India registered 28,591 new COVID-19 infections in a day, taking the overall number to 3,32,36,921, while active cases dropped by around 6,600 to reach 3,84,921, revealed the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.

The country reported 338 deaths in a day, taking the death toll to 4,42,655. The number of active cases currently constitutes 1.16% of the total infections, as the recovery rate across the country stood at 97.51%, reported the health ministry data.

With 73 crore people in the country having received their vaccination, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated that vaccination was the only medicine that could boost the economy, as it enables people to carry out businesses regularly or farmers to do their farming activity.
