COVID-19 cases in children increased around 240% since July in U.S.

COVID-19 cases have shown a steep increase among children in the US since July, suggest data from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).

A total of 243,373 new infections among children have been reported over the past week. Although there has been a drop from the previous week, there has been a 240% rise since early July, when there were 71,726 cases among children. The AAP said that after showing a fall in early summer, cases in children have increased with around 500,000 cases in the last two weeks. Children constituted 29% of all cases in the country.

Experts have advised adults to get their jabs in order to protect children below 12 years of age who are not yet eligible for COVID vaccination… (CNN, September 14, 2021)
