India's Vaccination Coverage Surpasses 75 Crore Doses

India has administered over 75 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccines since the launch of the vaccination drive in January this year, stated Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. At the ongoing pace, up to 43% of the country′s population will be vaccinated by December.

In order to stop a third COVID wave, experts have said that the country needs to inoculate at least 60% of the population with both doses of the vaccine by the end of this year. This can be achieved at a vaccination rate of 12 million doses per day. However, the rate of vaccination across the country over the past seven days has been 7.7 million a day, revealed Union government data.

India has recorded more than 3.3 crore COVID-19 cases thus far, with over 4.4 lakhs deaths. The number of active cases stood at 3,74,269… (NDTV, September 13, 2021)
