UK to start COVID-19 vaccine booster dose rollout next week

COVID-19 vaccine booster shots will be rolled out across the UK starting next week.

The decision comes after a recommendation from the government′s vaccine advisers, the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), who advised that around 30m people should be given a third vaccine dose. They stated that the booster jab should be given at least six months after an individual had received their second dose, with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. People eligible to get the booster shot are those who are above 50 years of age, younger adults with underlying health conditions and frontline health and care workers.
