In another grim milestone, 1 in 500 residents of the United States have died due to COVID-19 since the onset of the pandemic in the country.

Until Tuesday night, 663,913 individuals in the US had succumbed to COVID-19, as per data from the Johns Hopkins University. The US Census Bureau data suggest that the population of the country, as of April 2020, was 331.4 million. The US recorded an average of over 152,300 fresh COVID-19 infections every day over the past week as of Tuesday, which is more than 13 times the figure on June 22, when the average number of cases was at its lowest for this year (11,303 per day), revealed Johns Hopkins University data.
