Chrysanthellum indicum – an African plant, has phenylpropenic acids, flavonoids and saponosids. The use of its extract- Lanachrys as a topical agent can render optimal lipolysis activation through binding with a-2 receptors. This topical agent has shown benefits in attenuating eye puffiness in patients with POH.

Chrysanthellum indicum extract – Lanachrys enhances adrenaline lipolytic activity and enables fatty acid elimination. It can be used as draining active for eye care products. The benefits are evident on evaluating changes in the volume of eye puffiness after therapy.

The extract of Rumex occidentalis – a plant of the northern Canadian Prairies, has been used to develop a unique botanical whitening active called Tyrostat. Tyrosinase is one of the main enzymes involved in the process of pigmentation. Topical use of Rumex occidentalis extract- Tyrostat confers a strong inhibitory effect on tyrosinase, and can safely reduce skin pigmentation and erythema. This agent has shown benefits in age-spot reduction and lightening of Asian skin. Its advantages in rendering a brighter, lighter and smoother skin tone makes the skin to appear healthier and provides a more refined skin texture, only after 4 weeks of usage.

Two unique algae polysaccharides have been harvested recently, to produce biologically active polysaccharides- Aldavine that clinically demonstrate effectiveness in the protection of microcapillary integrity. When used as a topical agent in an ultra-concentrated formula, Aldavine has shown preventive actions against photo-aging and curative action on UV-ray exposed skin. Aldavine can normalize the excessive microcirculation caused by UV-ray exposure, and hence, prevents premature aging.

Evidence suggests that topical use of Aldavine has shown remarkable benefits in improving the appearance of dark circles, in terms of reducing the intensity and brightening the eye contour. Furthermore, when combination of algae polysaccharides concentrate with algae polysaccharides in topical agents can aid in reducing eye puffiness, as well as improve the appearance of dark circles. The synergistic effect also helps in protecting and maintaining the integrity of microcapillaries in the skin, and therefore, can render age-related aesthetic changes of the skin less visible.
